Dr. Reno Lauro Shares Insight with CNMA Students
Cinema & New Media Arts | On Apr 30, 2015
This semester, our CNMA students are studying the cinematic work of Terrence Malick, the brilliant and elusive filmmaker behind The Tree of Life, The Thin Red Line, and Days of Heaven. We were privileged this week to be able to speak with Dr. Reno Lauro, who worked directly with Malick on the production of The Tree of Life. Dr. Lauro’s PhD research was also focused on Malick’s films, seen through the lens of J.R.R. Tolkien’s mythopoeic philosophy.
The conversation with our students was lively and interesting as Dr. Lauro shared fun anecdotes of his time with Malick, helped us understand the philosophical and aesthetic influences in the films, and inspired our students to approach their own work with the same creative passion. We are all very appreciative for the time and insights Dr. Lauro shared with us!
